POWER MODULES

This STIWA machine produces power modules for electric cars. The components are automatically assembled with processes using adhesive bonding, laser welding, and a multi-step assembly process.

After being loaded into the machine, the housing and power hybrid are secured with a two-component adhesive and cured via UV activation. Electrical contacts are joined together using laser welding. A grounding pad is applied to the circuit board. Then a pressure piece is placed in a soft potting compound. The sub-assembly is cured in an oven and mounted onto a heat sink using screws, disk springs, and press-in bushings. The finished product is finally loaded into trays.

HIGHLY EFFICIENT LASER WELDING FOR E-MOBILITY

This process station incorporates state-of-the-art laser welding technology for optimal results with copper contacts. A system with four workpiece carriers enables staggered processing and rapid carrier changes, ensuring that the welding process is not interrupted by waiting times and thus optimizing cycle time.

AUTOMATED WELDING MASK TECHNOLOGY

The welding mask can be automatically set up for quick tooling changes and features an infeed and outfeed function for inspection and cleaning. Integrated contact pressers with cyclic force monitoring ensure consistent contact pressure.

SEAMLESS INLINE PROCESS MONITORING
 

The system includes position and force monitoring for the welding optics. Additionally, external force-displacement axes control the integrated actuators of the welding mask and allow for individual adjustment of the forces.
