QUICK COUPLINGS

This fully automated STIWA system is used to ­assemble couplings for hose lines. These are used in vehicle cooling systems.

The assembly process begins with the automated feeding of the components to be assembled. After inspection by camera systems, the parts are turned, lubricated, and placed in the workpiece carrier. At the same time, the seals are also fed automatically, undergo a quality inspection, are aligned, and are then installed into the prepared components. Next comes the installation of the catch spring and cover, followed by a check of the insertion force. Only flawless couplings proceed to the final laser marking.

HIGHEST PRECISION IN O-RING INSTALLATION 

During installation, the O-rings must be folded very tightly and inserted completely into the groove of the mating parts without twisting. Small-diameter molded seals require a versatile tool for this process to ensure proper function.

COMPREHENSIVE TESTING PROCESSES FOR SAFETY

The seal rings must be inspected for damage and functionality before and after assembly. This ­effectively prevents false rejects caused by varying ­surface finishes and minute particles on the seal rings.

OPTIMIZED LUBRICATION FOR LONGEVITY
 

In this process station, a wafer-thin emulsion is applied to the seal ring groove in the mating part. This ensures that neither too little nor too much lubricant is applied, thereby guaranteeing optimal sealing performance of the quick-connect coupling.
