Daniel Löschenberger is the best apprentice of Upper Austria

Daniel’s success impressively shows how important dedication and good preparation are. We congratulate him on his great success and wish him all the best for his future career.

Every year, all STIWA apprentices in their second year of apprenticeship are registered for the apprentice competition organized by the Industry Division of the Economic Chamber of Upper Austria, to measure and develop their skills. This year, 49 STIWA apprentices participated in the competition - in total there were 745 apprentices from 96 companies. One of theses talented young participants is Daniel Löschenberger. In the following interview he will give us insight into his experiences at the competition.

Daniel, what exactly did you have to do in the competition?

We received the request for a gate circuit for a garage gate. This is about installing and wiring the single components on a plate so that everything fits. It is important that everything is correctly wired and drilled and no wire protrudes.  It was a bit stressful because six hours are quite a short amount of time. Luckily we had very good preparation at the company in advance. We could do test runs to see how we get there in terms of time.

 How did it continue?

On site, the terminal board was directly checked for its functionality by the present employees of the Economic Chamber. Afterwards, the test items were scored at the Economic Chamber of Upper Austria in Linz by an expert jury. My work received a very high number of points, which I was very happy about.

When and how did you get to know that you had won the first place in the category electrical engineering / mechatronics and are also the best apprentice together with Felix Tauber from Energie AG Upper Austria?

Only those STIWA apprentices whose workpiece got the mark A were allowed to go to the award ceremony. We didn’t know more. We were told who actually won directly on site. This was incredibly exciting and thrilling for us. The joy was huge when I was named the winner. But it took me a while until I really realized it – only the next day, I really became aware of it.

How did you trainers and colleagues react to your success?

Everyone immediately congratulated me and was very happy for me. As a reward I got three additional vacation days and a shopping voucher from the company which is a great appreciation of course.

What do you especially like about your apprenticeship at STIWA?

I really like it at STIWA. I feel very comfortable here. The apprentices are very well supported and promoted here. I especially like the diverse working life. We don’t do the same things every day, but face new challenges again and again. This makes the work exciting and interesting.
