The STIWA Group welcomed 56 new apprentices from Austria and six from the STIWA locations in Germany and offered them a special experience: two intensive days on the Feuerkogel mountain, which were all about team spirit and cohesion.
"At STIWA it is important to us to give our apprentices the best possible start. This first team-building event offers the perfect opportunity to get to know each other in a dynamic environment, to have fun together and to gain valuable experience", says Thomas Bartl, Head of Apprentice Training at STIWA. Once again this year, he took part in the get-to-know-you days organised by the high-tech company based in Attnang-Puchheim in the hut village on the high plateau of the Feuerkogel in the Salzkammergut region.
Meet, trust and grow together
A total of 62 apprentices took part in the team-building days, accompanied by four trainers from Attnang-Puchheim and two trainers from the German sites. Zhufeng Cai, apprentice trainer from the Chinese site, was also there to gain insights. The group was also supported by seven external professional trainers. "In addition to the technical training, we at STIWA attach great importance to promoting the social skills of the young people. We not only want to train the best specialists of the future, but also develop responsible personalities," explains Bartl. The new apprentices will be trained in 11 different professions, including mechatronics, design and application development.
Building community through challenging activities
The first day began with a round of introductions and team exercises, followed by an exciting confidence hike to the European Cross. The participants took a close look at their strengths, weaknesses and expectations of the company. On the second day, the apprentices went to Lake Traunsee, where they worked in teams to build rafts and compete against each other. Other activities such as paddle tennis - a mixture of tennis and squash - and building a safety net provided plenty of fun and variety.
Thomas Bartl draws a positive conclusion: "The apprentices showed impressive commitment and worked extremely well as a team. Everyone was actively involved. We are very much looking forward to continuing to work with these young, committed adults".
