The STIWA Software business unit presented itself with a new look at the "all about automation" trade fair in Friedrichshafen at the beginning of March. Under the title "Shopfloor Software", STIWA showed solutions for visualization, optimization and control applications which help steer production transparently and reliably.

In the market, the STIWA Group is primarily perceived as a mechanical engineering company. Following our Strategy 2027, the Manufacturing and Software units were defined as additional business fields with equal status, which, in addition to Automation, will in future have an independent presence under the umbrella of the STIWA Group.

A first step in this direction was the participation of the Software business unit at the all about automation trade fair in Friedrichshafen: "We presented STIWA and put a focus on shopfloor software. While we were recognized as part of the STIWA Group, we were also clearly perceived as a software company. This approach worked out very well, we were able to make contact with a large number of potential customers," says Michael Meisel, Head of Sales and Product Management at STIWA Software.

Phased model for shopfloor solutions

The sales concept which STIWA Software applies to offer its products and services has also been renewed: the focus has shifted to shopfloor solutions on three levels, each based on the other: In the first step, all available data is visualized to create transparency. Secondly, STIWA Software provides customers with the tools they need to optimize their production on their own. Once the entire equipment inventory has been tweaked, the integrated system, including the control system, is implemented in a third step. "The trade show participants' feedback has confirmed that we followed the right ideas. We will continue to pursue this path and refine our external image even further. The automatica in June will be the next ideal opportunity to show who we are," says Meisel.
