STIWA Group wins State Award for Innovation 2025

The STIWA Group has been honored with the prestigious State Award for Innovation 2025. This high-level recognition celebrates the groundbreaking development of a novel electrolyte filling process for lithium-ion battery cells, fundamentally transforming efficiency in e-mobility manufacturing.

Battery cell production, particularly electrolyte filling, is recognized as one of the most time-consuming and costly steps in the manufacturing of lithium-ion batteries. To enhance the economic viability and competitiveness of European manufacturers against their Asian counterparts, the STIWA Group has developed an innovative process, including proprietary pumping and dosing technology. This advancement allows for a reduction in process time of up to 80 percent.

A critical advantage of STIWA's technology is the complete elimination of process gases such as nitrogen. This not only results in significant cost savings for customers but also leads to a substantial reduction in overall energy consumption. Furthermore, the higher output per square meter achieved through the shortened filling time considerably reduces the required production footprint and significantly lowers the energy expenditure per cell in energy-intensive dry room environments.

This solution, entirely developed by the STIWA Group, represents a vital step towards strengthening Europe's technological position and makes a significant contribution to accelerating a sustainable mobility transition. This award reaffirms STIWA Group's commitment to innovation and excellence in automation technology.
